@Math_Educators How do you use GoFormutative in your classrooms. I teach Geometry and will also be teaching Algebra II for the first time in a long time this year! I am curious to see how you use it in your Math Classrooms.

I usually use it to administer formative assessments. I like the idea of uploading PDFs. You don’t have to go crazy and type the questions in. Also, if I have to type the questions in, using the Equation Editor is great too, especially since I know how to use LaTeX. I’m not too fond of the graphing in GoFormative because the students would use Desmos instead of graphing manually.

Hi Megan! I am teaching Alg1, Geo, Algl2 and PreCalc this fall. Would love to connect with you. Are you on twitter?

Hi Megan, Here’s an example of how I use GoFormative in my math classroom https://goformative.com/clone/MBQNRB Data is awesome and students respond well using this tool.

I usually build formatives that are mostly auto-graded but with a couple show-your-work type questions so that I can watch on the fly. I’ve also used them for flipped classroom lessons. Embedding a video, with some check questions then giving students an opportunity to ask me (and the class) anything they didn’t understand in the video.

Yes, I am on Twitter! @mmiller_math

This looks great! Thanks for sharing.

Glad you found it useful. Anytime

Hey, we are already following each other!! I’m @Math912Teacher.

I used Formative two years ago when I taught Geometry and I have several formatives transferred over from the original format, so they don’t have a lot of the new question styles. If you let me know a topic you’d like to see, I can post that specific Formative.

I also use it for formative assessments that our PLC created for the essential standards. Then, I intervene with each kid (when I have the time) based on their greens, yellows, oranges, and red.

It has helped my students improve before the test at the end of the unit becuase we have 3 rounds of formatives.

Here is one: https://goformative.com/clone/LXRTTT

Our PLC uses go formative for formative assessments weekly. We do interventions on Friday based on the quiz we give Thursday for that weeks’ lessons.

We also use go formative for summative assessments at the end of each unit. We allow students to do test corrections, study, and have a retest which they do no goformative as well.

Great learning check! Lots of times I sort the student results for a GoFo and use it to group my students for an activity. Sometimes I want to group by like colors so kids (intervention, ‘fair’ game playing like when we do jeopardylabs.com) and other times and divvy up each color to spread out the ‘experts’ who can answer questions asked by weaker members in the group.
